Three dollars and a stranger

The adjoining Taco Bell and Subway at the truck stop I fuel up for work, are so slow.

Rarely are there two people at Subway and Taco Bell seems to have a few on the regular yet move so slow.

Oddly, it was quite funny after work one night. A Taco Bell employee had to switch over to help make sandwiches to move the line along. I needed extra patience because understandably he didn’t half know what he was doing.

Last night while fueling up, a man approached asking to clean my windows for spare change.

I told him my windows were already clean.

“They could be cleaner. “

“I only have a couple a dollars.”

“I’m not asking for anything. I’m willing to work. “

“Alright.”

He grabbed the spongee while I finished fueling.

He started with the windshield, then the driver and passenger windows, and wiped off my headlights.

As I boarded my truck and counted out some ones, I thought how he wasn’t prepared to take no for an answer.

Instead of walking away after saying, “ Well, thanks anyway,” he stood his ground and let me know he wasn’t asking for handouts.
