My family, like so many others this year, lost loved ones. Its crazy how we survived Covid, yet lost a couple family members due to illnesses non Covid related.

Over the summer my Aunt passed. While in September my moms Uncle passed. My Grandmother is one tough cookie and has strength I hope to never have. My Aunt was her youngest daughter. Seeing her be so strong standing over the casket for her babygirl — man I was just speechless. My great Uncle was her younger brother. And again, such strength.

So this year our Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays will be different. Two less at the table to share stories and laugh with. Two less to ask if they want a second helping of turkey, dressing, or sweet potato pie. Two less to shop for to see their expression while opening gifts.

Yep, this year will be different.

But, you know what? We will still come together as a family to celebrate. Not just because it is what we do. But also to celebrate them in spirit. And continue to be grateful for what we have and for those we have left.

That is something we all can do.

Thank you for reading.
