We don’t hear of many bounce back stories. Today I’ve got a good one.

A former co worker of my then husband, was a divorced middle aged man whom made the decision to get professional help.

Previously he’d been diagnosed with sex addiction. Therapy revealed his addiction stemmed from abandonment in childhood. This was my first time hearing that sex addiction had little to do with sex at all. It was the yearning for emotional attachment or connection to someone.

Moving forward, he began attending weekly meetings for his former drug and alcohol use. Up to three times a week, he’d sit with others in a group setting with a counselor. These meetings proved good in keeping him focused and consistent with his now sober lifestyle. And I don’t recall seeing one Facebook post about them either.

He read books, took on the practice of meditation, and would invite my husband and our two son’s over to watch games.

Then, he met his now wife on a meditation app. After a year and some change of dating, he retired and moved across seas to be with the new love of his life.
