Rick Ross’ 20 million dollar watch doesn’t impress me
News broke about rapper Rick Ross’ 20 million dollar watch that took three years to manufacture. According to its creator, Jacob the Jeweler, the watch “cannot be duplicated” due to the Tsavorite stones set into the watch itself.
For the uninformed, Tsavorite stones are extremely popular due to its rarity, brilliant sparkle, and fraction of the price, in comparison to other stones.
Forgive me if I come across as pocket watching. But I wonder when we as a people, stop being impressed with the spending of our flamboyant celebrities.
We love nothing more than a rags to riches story while seeing how the rich, spend their riches. Mayweather doesn’t have millions of followers solely because of his boxing greatness. His posts of a million dollars cash on the table and around the world shopping sprees are equally intriguing.
However, material things ain’t everything.
I’m sure there’s plenty Ross has done for the community and continues to do. Aside from rap, what about legacy? I’ll be impressed when he creates 10,000 jobs or 1,000 scholarships.
Something with a greater impact that will outlive the time on his 20 million dollar watch.
