Real Spill: No thanks, I’ve been on enough boring dates

Is the traditional dinner date dead?

One influencer proclaiming to never accept coffee dates because it sends a message sets women ablaze.

Next thing, screenshots are posted on social media of women declining ice cream meetups through paragraph long texts about their worth.

To some this could be seen as a flex in response to low effort men or “dusties”. To others, an example of how turning down the simple meetup is unwise in this new age of dating.

And I think I know why.

Many women have and continue to sit through horrible, long standing dates with men who either don’t know how to interact with women or humans in general.

I am one of those women.

There are countless dates recalled I could’ve easily slept on. Literally.

The internal dialogue with myself on the drive home is brutal. Did I really sit and listen to him talk for an hour straight? Girl, were you really that bored or desperate for a free meal? You are really stupid for wasting that kinda time.

Free meal aside in hindsight, the experiences have left me feeling foolish, embarrassed, confused, and angry at the same damn time.

Coffee meetup or real date?

The consensus seems split.

The rise of the meetup doesn’t sound bad at all. Men can protect their wallets and women can save their time.

Moving forward I may lean toward the meetups and save the dates for myself.
