The new year has brought some new perspectives to heart and mind. Namely financial. Not certain what it is or where it’s come from, but it must be necessary for elevation to the next level because I’m sticking with it.

Here’s five ways I’m changing the way I view and spend money

#1 Ceasing the purchase of alcohol

I’ve done this before in the past. In no way am I an alcoholic or drinker per se. It’s not a daily habit by any stretch as so much something to enjoy on an off day. This year I’ve decided to exercise discipline and forgo the consumption of it entirely.

I feel more empowered by seeking other alternatives and it helps keep a few extra dollars per month in the pocket.

#2 Replacing larger chain restaurants/stores with small businesses (preferably black owned)

One of my favorite restaurants is minutes from my home and husband and wife black owned. During a conversation with the owner I told her that chain restaurants for me were out. The quality of the food doesn’t compare.
