Real Spill: 1,2,3,4,5….
I have a love/hate relationship with Walmart. Love the prices, yet hate the environment and the element it attracts. It’s the only store where I could be solicited for help on an unpaid water bill or for my phone number to “talk and get to know” on the same visit.
This past week quite a few people spoke the usual, Hello…Good morning…as they passed me throughout the aisles. One gentleman in particular took it a step further as we passed each other.
Apparently there was a little more on his mind. After I said spoke and asked how he was, he stopped, sighed, then mentioned how high gas was in New York where he just returned from.
“$7.23 for gas in New York.”
“Wow, really?”
“Yeah, that’s where I just returned from. This is crazy how expensive everything is.”
Gas over $7 bucks a gallon makes the $4.45 where I’m from seem almost cheap. The reality is, everything has gone up. Things that were $1 are no longer a dollar. More like $1.18. It pains me that I can no longer find a regular bottle of generic brand salad dressing for under a $1 like a used to.
But, before I continue on with this rant, I must stop and count my blessings.
#1 Throughout the pandemic I continued to work because my job was essential. Didn’t lose one penny in pay.
