Please, don’t be one of those co-workers

“No one said we had to do this for this long.”

The mantra my dad would say whenever he grew weary of working.

No one tells you specifically after school you gotta work a job for decades until retirement age. I mean sure, you hear the retirement age being 65. But you don’t really comprehend how long that is until you’re working a job for years…and years….and years.

Like anyone, he’d grow tired of the Monday -Friday, sometime Monday-Sunday grind during overtime season. One thing I’m sure of about my dad, is that he wasn’t a bad co worker.

I’ve got them.

And you probably do too.

What is a bad co worker?

The kind that gets your spirit down upon contact or whenever they open their mouth. Because usually its to complain about a job they’ve been on for years. And years. And years.

You ask how they’ve managed to stay so long at a job they seemingly hate. The response is always, “When I started, I didn’t plan on being here this long.”

A bad co worker is the type that half ass does their job on purpose. So the dedicated ones pick up the slack.

A bad co worker calls off frequently when nothing is seriously wrong. They just didn’t feel like coming in. Knowing…
