My Top 5 Movie Soundtrack Songs
Nothing tops movies like in the 90’s. Still, you won’t find better soundtracks outside the ’90 to early 2000’s era.
Don’t think so? When’s the last time you streamed a song from a black film? Gotta think for a minute, I know.
Imma tell y’all like I tell my son. We had classic movies with good soundtracks we actually bought because the songs were so dope.
There were plenty of R&B cuts that were popular on some of those soundtracks. Think Color Me Bad’s, “I Wanna Sex You Up”, from New Jack City, that was played out on radio and video.
But, for this list of my five most favorite songs from a movie soundtrack, I’m sticking to my Hip Hop roots starting with:
2Pac-Pain
Movie: Above the Rim
We were pretty ticked when the soundtrack came out and this wasn’t on it. Later we discovered it landed on the cassette and not the cd. Anyway, the beat is absolutely crazy with 2pac spitting in classic 2Pac form. It would be years before I finally snagged it off a Makaveli bootleg.
