My Top 5 Mary J. Blige Remixes of All Time
Think about this.
90’s R&B introduced Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, a young Beyonce, Brandy, Monica, and Aaliyah most notably. Absolute legends in their own right. But there is another 90’s singer that has stood the test of time; Mary J. Blige.
Like many, I’ve been a fan since her debut, “What’s the 411?”. That album would spawn the “What’s the 411 Remixes” that would send Mary and Puff on his self proclaimed, we invented the remix tirade.
When remixes were the thing, it was unlikely you’d get them all from one source. From sitting by the radio blank tape ready, to scouring the backs of cassette singles, or as technology evolved buying and downloading mixtape cd’s, there was no end in searching for my favorite artist remixes.
Here’s my top 5:
#5 All I Need Method Man ft. Mary J. Blige (Puff Daddy Remix)
It’s crazy to think the original album version didn’t even have Mary on it. The song was remixed perfectly by RZA adding Mary, to deliver the radio/video version we all came to love. As a result, “All I Need” became an instant heartfelt classic in ’95. Puff would offer his own remix with a Biggie background sample.
