How long should you follow an influencer online?

Get in, get out. Don’t overstay your welcome.

As a little girl, my interests didn’t entail the typical girly things. Double dutch, braiding my dolls hair, and trying to look pretty for boys was never my thing. A girl in the 80’s and 90’s who enjoyed sports and collecting trading cards was out the norm.

I was never much of a follower. Until social media came along.

Twitter and Instagram became my main go to’s for following anyone with similar interests as myself. If they spoke and posted my language; I followed vehemently.

On Twitter, a financial influencer hit my timeline. After watching their content on investing in stocks and options, I decided to follow. My interest for investing had renewed by watching their content, along with other investors that followed them. Before I knew it, my understanding for stocks grew, along with my small investment portfolio. I became a member of their discord with investors of varying levels of experience, with admins who taught classes and made themselves available for questions in and out the discord. It was heavenly.

Being part of an investment community was the best money spent at that time; until it wasn’t.
