And it’s so true. As we mature and life hits, so does the thought of, so that’s what mama/daddy meant when they said…..
I was fifteen when my parents announced my father would enter a rehab. The years following his father’s death, sent his drinking habits to the roof. And since mom had enough, he finally decided he needed help.
But there was this one thing. Her expectation was this would be the first and last trip. No revolving door of two week stay rehabs. Leaving her to single parent while married.
This is it. Get the help you need. I’m here to support but this is it. Because I can’t do this.
As she recalled over dinner. I was proud of my mom. She loved my father but loved herself and daughters more. She knew if a standard and expectation wasn’t set, the chances of rehabilitation would decrease putting the family foundation in jeopardy.
After two weeks of rehab, my dad arrived back home new and approved.
