Life really does begin at forty. Up until then, you are just doing research.

-Carl Jung

Just when I thought growing pains only existed in childhood, making it to my forties has proved me wrong. Each year has brought new lessons, blessings, and new pains later in life but right on time.

Here’s what I’ve come up with so far:

#1 It’s okay to love from a distance. (Family, friends, associates, etc.)

#2 Not all family members are meant to be close and like each other. Everyone is their own person. We’re not always gonna get along and agree.

#3 Every person in your life has their season. All relationships have expiration dates. Read the room. Has their mood changed around you? Find yourself reaching out to them more often than they reach out to you? This may be an indication the relationship has run its course. Let it go. Wish them well.

#4 What’s meant for others, may not be meant for you. A high net worth or fame may not be in your cards. Your wealth may be in love, family, health, or friendship. Never envy what someone has. You don’t know the price they paid.
