10 Things Jim Rohn Taught Me On Writing
A few years ago I came across motivational speaker Jim Rohn via YouTube. Listening to one of his speeches had me wondering where he had been all my life. His voice and penchant for breaking down concepts on wealth and personal development into understandable pieces had me captivated.
I binged listened to all his videos. But there was one video on focus that really stuck with me that I was able to transfer to writing.
Here’s the ten things I learned:
Don’t mistake movement for achievement
We’ve all heard it before about people who write everyday but don’t publish every day. Writing daily is only part of the equation if you want to become a successful writer. You have to get your work out there. You gotta hit that publish button. Time has to be spent engaging and interacting with other writers, readers, editors, to gain any kind of traction.
When you work work, when you play play
There is a time and place for everything. Writing is hard work and demands all our attention. Plus, I think our friends and family would be appreciative if we didn’t bring work to quality time with them. And our readers would definitely appreciate it as well with the great focused content we could deliver.
